Over-temperature

The inverter has throttled or shut down because its internal temperature exceeded safe limits.

Common causes

  • Insufficient clearance around the unit or blocked heat sink
  • Direct sun and high ambient temperature
  • Dust build-up on cooling surfaces
  • Fan failure

Safe checks

  1. 1Check that the clearances in the installation manual are respected.
  2. 2Remove anything stored against or above the unit.
  3. 3Confirm the unit is not in direct afternoon sun where it can be shaded safely.
  4. 4Do not open the enclosure to clean inside it.

When to call a technician

Call a qualified technician if the device repeats the fault after a manufacturer-approved restart, shows a burning smell, has damaged or discoloured wiring, or if the symptom involves the battery, inverter power stage or any sealed high-voltage component.
